Inspirational Art & Creative Writing courses by the sea

Grosvenor House Events

"..If it wasn't for the tranquillity of Grosvenor House I would never have finished my first draft. Frances and Torin are excellent hosts and made me feel right at home. I was left to get on with my writing under their watchful eye. I can't thank them enough for giving me the space and time to work on my story. A haven by the sea for literary minds to ponder and create. A wonderful place to recharge your batteries and let your imagination go wild..."  - Sarah

Testimonials

Frances and Torin are exactly what you wish from AirBnB hosts: welcoming, warm and flexible. They were also very generous and it really felt like staying in our own home which made the whole experience so much easier and wonderful! We loved their house and location! The house is very tastefully decorated and equipped well with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We would strongly recommend this house to anyone wishing to discover the Kent coastline. Torin's ales also went down well with my husband - so it was great that we were able to purchase some at the end of our stay. On the day of departure, our hosts were so friendly and kind and it was great to have met such wonderful people who genuinely seemed to care about our stay and wellbeing. Go on: book the lovely house now- you know you want to! You will have an amazing time!

Grosvenor House was wonderful! Frances couldn't do enough for us from the minute we made contact with her. It all lived up to our expectations! The lovely bottled beer left for my husbands birthday was such a thoughtful gesture and much appreciated. All the rooms are beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. Walking out of the front door straight down to the beach to read the morning papers was a delight followed by gin and tonics in the walled garden finished each day perfectly.

Beautiful and relaxing break, right next to the sea! This place really is a gem. Frances made us feel so welcome with snacks, coffee, tea, fresh flowers and even a cake for my husband's birthday. Relaxing garden at the back with lots of charming rooms inside to enjoy as well. The place was beautifully decorated and comfortable, we only stayed one night but felt we had a week of holiday. I can't recommend more highly! Only 10-15 min walk to pier which had games and fun for the kids. Our family did not want to leave, thank you Frances for a lovely weekend.

"In March, I stayed at Grosvenor House for a week-long writing retreat. It was the perfect venue for quiet and inspiration, and being only two doors up from the beach, it also proved to be an ideal location to go out walking after a long day sat in front of my laptop. The hosts, Frances and Torin, have a beautiful home and they were helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating hosts—ensuring I was completely comfortable during my stay. They even provided a thoughtful starter pack of snacks and drinks for my arrival. I’d definitely recommend their home for a quiet week away for writing and/or walking retreats! "

"From the time I arrived at Grosvenor House until I left I was treated like one of the family in the most friendly atmosphere. From comfortable beds n stunning rooms to the sea view and comfortable seating areas, we were made so welcome. The Browns were wonderful hosts and couldn’t do enough for all of us on the ‘Picture Book’ course. I learnt a great deal too. From learning how to set out stories, content,  lists of agents and publishers and how to write letters to them, a really good tutor, the list is endless. A wonderful place to spend time on a course.

I can thoroughly recommend Grosvenor House and I eagerly look forward to attending another course in 2017." - June

"Excellent accommodation and welcoming atmosphere; lovely setting. Hosts do everything to ensure the group gels. Love the small classes which helped me come away with so much. Would highly recommend a course here to anyone wishing to develop their own craft of writing." -  Elaine Cline.
