Frances was born in Trinidad, to a
musical world of calypso and parang.
She spent her childhood reading
Nancy Drew mysteries and Enid Blyton's
Famous Five & Secret Seven, causing her
to wonder why it just wouldn't snow at
Christmas and begging her parents to
ship her off to boarding school in England,
for midnight feasts, strong friendships
and daring adventures.
Being told that she couldn't go, she wrote her own
adventure diaries, formed her own secret clubs -
one hosted high up in her mango tree -
password strictly enforced.
A love of the sea has brought her to adopt the
North Kent coast as her home, embracing the contrast with the warm seas and blue skies of her childhood in the Caribbean.
Previously a BBC make-up artist, she is a passionate gardener,
holds a diploma in Garden Design and writes with one firm hand on the pen whilst juggling secateurs and spade with the other.
Frances is a member of SCBWI and a wonderful on-line critique group, and enjoys the one day a month meetings with her regional writing buddies.
